Cosmetic Tattoo Aftercare

Proper aftercare is essential to support healing, protect pigment retention, and help you achieve the best result from your cosmetic tattoo treatment. Healing can vary from person to person, so always follow your technician’s advice if it differs from the guide below.

What to expect
It is normal for the area to appear darker, bolder, or more defined immediately after treatment. Mild tenderness, dryness, tightness, flaking, and light scabbing can occur during the healing period.

Step-by-step aftercare

First 24 hours

  • Keep the area clean and dry.
  • Do not touch the area with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid makeup, skincare, or any active products on the treated area.
  • Avoid sweating, steam, saunas, and intense exercise.

Days 2–7

  • Keep the area dry as much as possible.
  • Do not pick, scratch, rub, or remove any flaking skin.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Avoid swimming, spas, saunas, and hot yoga.
  • Avoid exfoliants, retinol, acids, and strong active skincare near the treated area.
  • Sleep carefully and avoid friction from pillowcases or face coverings.

For lip blush treatments

  • Keep lips hydrated only with the aftercare product recommended by your technician.
  • Avoid spicy, salty, or very hot foods if the lips feel sensitive.
  • Use a straw where possible for the first 24 hours.
  • Do not peel dry skin.

Important

  • Do not pick scabs or flakes, as this can affect pigment retention.
  • Avoid cosmetic treatments on the area until fully healed.
  • Healed results are softer and lighter than they first appear.
